How to cancel an App Store subscription

What happens if you do nothing

• Apple will renew the subscription automatically unless canceled.
• Access continues until the end of the current period if you cancel.

How to cancel, step by step

1. Open iOS Settings and tap your name
2. Tap Subscriptions
3. Select the subscription you want to cancel
4. Tap Cancel Subscription and confirm
5. Do not cancel inside the app itself

Checklist

• To cancel, open Settings › [your name] › Subscriptions on your iPhone or iPad.
• Check whether you’re on monthly vs yearly.
• Set a reminder a week before renewal.

Watch out for

• Canceling in the provider app may not work if billing is through Apple.
• Family Sharing can change who is billed.

When to start

Start about 7 days before the renewal date⁠—earlier if there is a notice period, so you still have time to decide, compare and send your notice.
