How to stop a professional certification renewing

How to cancel, step by step
- Log in to the certification body’s portal
- Find the membership or renewal settings
- Turn off auto-renewal before the due date
- Note any lapse or reinstatement rules
- Save the cancellation confirmation
Checklist
- Confirm renewal deadline and requirements.
- Check CPD/credits required.
- Set reminders well before the deadline.
Watch out for
- Some certifications require processing time; don’t leave it to the last day.
When to start
Start about 45 days before the renewal date—earlier if there is a notice period, so you still have time to decide, compare and send your notice.
