Aplo Apps (formerly “Developing for Fun”) is the independent app studio of Nikolaos Sarantinos. We build apps for iPhone and iPad, with Presence Studio on the Mac too. Each one is focused on what matters, private by design and free of ads.

Principles

What we hold ourselves to

Four principles that apply to every app⁠—from the first sketch to the next update.

  1. Made for your device

    Every app follows the conventions of its platform⁠—the patterns you already know from your device, not an interface that only sort of fits everywhere.

  2. Private by design

    Your data belongs to you. Our apps work without an account and keep everything on your device. They only sync when you want them to⁠—through your own cloud storage, such as iCloud. A copy of your content never ends up with us.

  3. Calm by design

    No dark patterns, no fake urgency, no flood of notifications. And honest pricing: every released app is free to download; upgrades are optional and billed by the store, and subscriptions can be canceled anytime.

  4. Personal support

    We read every message ourselves and reply personally⁠—usually within two business days, in English or German.

How we build our apps

Wherever we can, we build on the platform’s own technologies. That keeps the apps lean and easy to maintain⁠—and your data where it belongs.

    Every app follows the conventions of its platform, so navigation, controls and settings work the way you already know from your device.

  • CloudKit

    Sync through iCloud

    Optional sync runs on Apple’s CloudKit and your private iCloud storage. We don’t run a database of our own that holds your content.

    Purchases through the store

    In-⁠app purchases and subscriptions are sold through the store you got the app from. Payment, renewal, cancellation and refunds stay with the store⁠—we never see payment details.

    On your device first

    Your data is stored locally first, so the apps keep working without a connection⁠—the Einbürgerungstest app even runs fully offline.

    Locked where it matters

    Contracts and subscriptions are personal, so Renewal Radar can be protected with an app lock using Face ID or Touch ID.

    Presence Studio adapts its interface, invoice wording and regional defaults to English, German, French and Spanish.

An app is never finished. When official requirements change, we update it.
